Calling all Filipinos against AI weapons!
Join Anakbayan UW for a workshop and making art about the impacts of AI on the Philippines and how it traces back to students at UW! Right now, there is a deal pending between the United States, the Philippines, and other foreign countries called Pax Silica. Pax Silica intends to use 4,000 acres of Philippine land for AI data centers designed for weapons manufacturing. This invasive agreement destroys the environment, displaces indigenous people, causes forced migration, and invites a war onto the doorstep of the Philippines.
These deals with AI weapons companies are not just a threat abroad, but have direct impacts here at UW. Anduril is an AI defense tech company in Seattle that is part of Pax Silica. It’s companies like these that influence the Aerospace and Engineering programs at UW to hire students for their weapons manufacturing programs.
