iGEM Conversations in Synthetic Biology

Conversations in Synthetic Biology is a speaker event Washington iGEM hosts every year to introduce students to the rapidly growing field of synthetic biology. Since many people are unfamiliar with the field, it can often seem intimidating or inaccessible. Our goal is to break down those barriers by creating an approachable space where students can learn from experts about the many ways synthetic biology impacts medicine, technology, environment, and more.

The event will feature a diverse panel of professors and students who will share their experiences and perspectives in synthetic biology. Through these conversations, students get to learn more about why the field is so impactful, what research/career opportunities look like, and how people from a wide range of backgrounds can get involved.

In addition to the panel discussion, students can participate in interactive activities designed to introduce key synthetic biology concepts in an engaging way. Whether you’re simply curious about the field or considering joining the synthetic biology community at UW, this event is a fun opportunity to learn from experts and meet like-minded students.
