Join Swing Kids at UW for a fun afternoon social dance in Red Square! We will be dancing the Lindy Hop– you can join us for our beginner lessons on Sept. 23 and 26 or our ballroom outing on Sept. 27 for an introduction, although not required to have a good time at the jam.
Swing Kids at UW are a group of college students dedicated to learning Lindy Hop swing. Lindy Hop is a partner dance developed in the 20’s and 30’s in Harlem, NY. Born from African rhythms and European structured dance, the style consists of 6 and 8 count steps borrowing footwork from Charleston and Tap. UW Swing Kids teach and encourage the university’s community to learn the joys of swing dancing through affordable weekly lessons, quarter dances, and social outing opportunities.
