SARP is hosting a Women in Aerospace Speed Networking event during Dawg Daze to introduce incoming UW students to women pursuing careers in engineering, aerospace, and related STEM fields. The event brings together 10 women from a variety of backgrounds, including current UW students, alumni, and women working in the aerospace industry, to share their experiences and advice.
Students will participate in a speed-networking format, rotating between small groups or individual conversations with the mentors. Each conversation would provide an opportunity to ask questions about college, engineering careers, internships, the aerospace industry, and navigating traditionally male-dominated fields. The informal format would make it easy for students to meet multiple mentors and hear a range of perspectives in a short period of time.
Our goal is to create an approachable and inspiring environment where incoming students can build connections, learn about opportunities in aerospace, and see the variety of paths available to them. By connecting students with women who have already pursued these paths, we hope to help students feel more confident about their place in engineering and encourage them to explore opportunities within aerospace and STEM.
