SUMMARY:Husky History Exploration: Self-Guided Tour
DESCRIPTION:What did this landscape look like before it became home to the University of Washington? How has it changed since the first building was built here 130 years ago? Which histories have been popularized by those in power\, and which have quietly been forgotten? The Husky History Exploration highlights ten landmarks significant to the university’s natural\, indigenous\, colonial\, and political histories. \nVisit these spaces in any order and learn about the University of Washington’s past and present. Write down the secret code at each location on the Husky History Passport – you can pick up a passport at the Dawg Daze information booth or Mary Gates Hall 120. Fill in all ten codes and you’ll be rewarded with a small exclusive prize and entered into a raffle for a larger prize. The Husky History Exploration can also be accessed on our website.

SUMMARY:iGEM Conversations in Synthetic Biology
DESCRIPTION:Conversations in Synthetic Biology is a speaker event Washington iGEM hosts every year to introduce students to the rapidly growing field of synthetic biology. Since many people are unfamiliar with the field\, it can often seem intimidating or inaccessible. Our goal is to break down those barriers by creating an approachable space where students can learn from experts about the many ways synthetic biology impacts medicine\, technology\, environment\, and more. \nThe event will feature a diverse panel of professors and students who will share their experiences and perspectives in synthetic biology. Through these conversations\, students get to learn more about why the field is so impactful\, what research/career opportunities look like\, and how people from a wide range of backgrounds can get involved. \nIn addition to the panel discussion\, students can participate in interactive activities designed to introduce key synthetic biology concepts in an engaging way. Whether you’re simply curious about the field or considering joining the synthetic biology community at UW\, this event is a fun opportunity to learn from experts and meet like-minded students.
