SUMMARY:Brockman Memorial Tree Tour
DESCRIPTION:Hello New Huskies! – here’s a way to brag about your fantastic choice in University; the UW has more different types of tree growing on campus than just about any other University in the entire country! Our campus grounds are home to over 500 different tree species and cultivars (and over 12\,000 individual specimens). \nThis tree tour is the perfect opportunity to meet some of the most exceptional types of trees on campus. We will visit trees that have been around since before dinosaur times\, trees that can grow to the height of a 38-story building\, and trees that are so pretty that they attract over 10\,000 visitors each year. As we move around campus\, you will have the opportunity to get to know the campus grounds a bit better\, and to meet fellow students with a shared interest in the natural world. \nDetails: \nThis tour takes place outdoors\, please dress for the weather! \nWe will gather up at the front of the Husky Union Building\, near the Husky Statue. \nOur walk will cover about a half mile of campus grounds. \nTo learn more about campus trees\, or to take the self-guided version of this tour\, visit the link to the Campus Tree Tours website.

DESCRIPTION:Hello new Huskies\, and welcome – our state is renowned for its forests\, and many of the trees that make up those forests can be found growing right here on the UW Campus. Native trees are truly a fascinating part of the landscape\, and this event is an excellent opportunity to get to know them all. In addition to simple identification tips\, this tour will also highlight the ecological and cultural qualities of our native tree specimens that make them such important part of the campus. Participants will also learn a bit about the food\, medicine\, and materials that each of these species has provided for the people of our region for thousands of years! SUMMARY:Environmental Science and Terrestrial Resource Management (ESRM) Information Session
DESCRIPTION:The School of Environmental and Forest Sciences has two undergraduate majors; Is the Environmental Science and Terrestrial Resource Management (ESRM) major the right major for you? Please attend this in-person information session about the ESRM major hosted in SEFS’s home building Anderson Hall. The session will cover what ESRM is\, how ESRM students get involved in the department\, and how to fulfill the ESRM Major’s Minimum Requirements for admission.  The session will be led by SEFS academic advisers\, and SEFS faculty and students will be available to answer questions as well. \nThere will be a formal presentation and question period from 11am-11:45am\, and an informal drop-in information session from 11:45-1pm. \nThere will be a staff representative for SEFS’s other undergraduate major\, Sustainable Bioresource Systems Engineering (SBSE)\, available at this session; SBSE also has its own dedicated DAWGDays session at https://dawgdaze.uw.edu/event/sustainable-bioresource-systems-engineering/.  Please check them out too! \n
