SUMMARY:Egg Drop w/ the Undergraduate Physics Mentoring Program
DESCRIPTION:Come test your crafting and engineering skills at the UGMP Egg Drop! You and your team will have two hours to create a contraption from provided materials\, capable of safely delivering the egg from the Physics Courtyard Balcony to the Burke-Gilman Trail below. Teamwork is encouraged: come with your team or be ready to make new friends. Shelters will be judged in two categories: durability and creativity of design. Prizes include some serious bragging rights. \nSchedule: \n1-3 pm Drop-in crafting session; stay for however long it takes to prepare your shelter. Supplies are first-come first-served. \n3-3:30 pm Dropping and judging sessions begin; be sure to catch this high-energy portion of the event. \nThe Undergraduate Physics Mentoring Program is an RSO dedicated to building community and demystifying physics by foregrounding resources for undergrads at any stage in their UW journey. Whether you are a first year student interested in the major or a physics veteran\, we provide a space to connect and have fun through mentor-mentee pairings and regular social events. SUMMARY:Solar Telescope Viewing with AUEG (Astronomy Undergraduate Engineering Group)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of solar viewing with AUEG! We will have telescopes (equipped with safe viewing filters) showing off beautiful features\, such as solar flares and sunspots\, of our sun. Our officers will also be present to talk about the club and answer any questions. We hope you can join us! \nThe Astronomy Undergraduate Engineering Group (AUEG) is an RSO dedicated to working with\, maintaining\, and also hosting trips to UW’s Manastash Ridge Observatory in Ellensburg\, WA. We have various projects involving Arduino\, radio astronomy\, and coding to help improve the observatory.\nNo experience is required\, no application necessary. All majors and backgrounds are welcome!
