ASME Presents: Bracelets and Backyard Activities

The University of Washington chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) will host a community-building event at Sylvan Grove for incoming first-year students. The event will feature a variety of casual activities, including bracelet making, Spikeball, volleyball, cornhole, and frisbee. ASME will provide all bracelet-making materials, including beads and string, as well as equipment for the outdoor games.

The primary goal of this event is to help incoming students connect with one another before the academic year begins by providing a relaxed, welcoming environment where they can meet new people and build friendships. While the event will primarily be advertised to incoming STEM students, particularly those interested in engineering, it will be open to all incoming first-year students.

In addition to the recreational activities, ASME student representatives will be available throughout the event to answer questions about college life, share their experiences as engineering students, and offer advice to help ease the transition to the University of Washington. This event is intended to foster a sense of community while introducing new students to ASME and the opportunities the organization provides.
