Come try Martial Arts at UW, a fun beginner-friendly class for new incoming students! Whether you have martial arts experience or have never thrown a punch before, you are welcome to join us. We’ll practice basic kicks, punches, movement, and coordination in a relaxed environment focused on staying active, learning something new, and meeting other students.
The sessions will be taught by Professor Dr. Dabiri, a professor in the UW Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering Department. Dr. Dabiri has martial arts experience in Shotokan Karate and Shorinji Kempo, and he will guide students through the basics in a supportive and safe way. The goal is not competition — just come ready to move, learn, and have fun!
Please wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in, including long pants. You do not need a martial arts uniform or any special equipment. Bringing water is recommended.
We’re hosting two sessions: September 29, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, and October 2, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM.
Come for either session, bring a friend, and try out martial arts with us!
